Data retention

Choose how long Dialstitch keeps call recordings, voicemail, transcripts, text attachments and chat files, and keep calls with a legal hold.

By default Dialstitch keeps everything. Admins can set shorter limits under Admin, then Retention.

What you can limit

  • Call recordings.
  • Voicemail audio.
  • Transcripts and AI summaries.
  • SMS and MMS media. The message text is kept.
  • Team chat attachments. The messages are kept.

For each one, choose Keep forever, 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, or 1, 2, 3 or 7 years.

Change a policy

  1. Pick the new limits

Choose a period for each type of data.

  2. Check what will go

If the new limit is shorter, Dialstitch shows what the next nightly purge would delete.

  3. Confirm

Select Delete and save to confirm, or Cancel.

To keep a call no matter what your policy says, an admin opens the call in Calls and selects Place legal hold. The call keeps its recording, voicemail and transcript until someone selects Release legal hold. The Retention page shows how many calls are on hold. Legal hold covers calls only, not text attachments or chat files.
